Crafty play day .... Finally

Hi peeps,
Just a quick post to share what me and Linda made on our last play date. As usual I'm about a fortnight late in sharing ha ha

We both fancied a go at a floating tea cup and the results are below ...
If you fancy a peek at Linda's here's a link. Lindas Blog

Really easy to do once you've sussed  the floating bit ha ha .... I got steve to Uri Geller an old fork into a Z shape, glued it in place using hot glue and then a little Pinflair glue gel and then I wrapped the fork in twine and proceeded to add my flowers etc. I even made a little nest and an egg to go with my little birdie.

I found it easier to glue dead central in the saucer to aid balance but if you have a try and it's a bit off kilter try gluing some two pence coins to add a bit of ballast. Seen that tip on Pinterest.

A birthday card for MIL

Hi peeps

another quicky to share of a stamped card I made for Steves mum.

The stamps are Pollyanna Pickering. As soon as I saw them I bought them, not my usual stuff but just perfect for Vera's cards as she has a Westie.

I made a mask of the dog and then stamped the background around him and used my watercolours to colour it.
Then just mat and layered on to a 8x8 card blank

She loved it, which is handy as she'll be seeing lots more of him ha ha

Play day share

Hi peeps
Just a quick post to share a reverse canvas I did when me and Linda had a play day last Thursday. I picked us to do a canvas with a spring theme, as usual we both went in totally different direction from each other, as mine took on a shabby chic look.

I've used white gesso, stencils with white crackle paste and a bit of modelling paste. I dry brushed with a little bit of brown acrylic then over brushed with white.

Then just added my embelies which I'd coloured with a tinge of pink and added white acrylic to 'wash out' the colour and help with the shabby look.

Things you do when you can't sleep ...........

Hi Peeps

Well I couldn't settle last night so I decided to make this mixed media piece.

I'd done the base in the afternoon.... I keep attempting a white based project but my mucky paws just can't help it ha ha they always end up dark again

First I covered my canvas board with paper/scrap/lace/diecuts
I used PVA to stick

Then I painted it with a good coat of gesso

Then stuck on my 'bits' I gesso'd some underneath as I layered up

Then covered again with Gesso

Then the fun started....
I forgot to take pics whilst splashing colour on so I'll talk you through it

I sprinkled green and red brown primary elements powders and spritzed with water
then sprayed old gold and copper mica sprays

then dribbled watered down raw umber Deco Art acrylic
and let it run whilst moving the canvas side to side

Then I dry brushed with white acrylic some of the higher pieces to highlight them

then using Deco Art quinacridone gold and trans yellow oxide.... I first did a wash over everything
then darkened a few pieces (the ones  I'd highlighted)

Once dry I sprinkled a bit of distress embossing powders on and a touch of antique bronze EP

Then very lightly rubbed a little Inka Gold paste over a few areas
I did my best with the photos but its hard to show the gilding

For the Fob, I filled it with UTEE, added the words,
added a bit of gold and black Inka Gold Paste to the edges
then added clear UTEE to make it dome and make the words look suspended in the fob.
Finally I glued it in place and cleaned the mediums off the bulb and gem

As you can prob tell I thoroughly enjoyed myself
and once hubby got up at 5am  I went back to bed...... so I even managed a nap ha ha

Mucky Fun ....

Hi Peeps

I went to the Indigo Blu open day last week and saw some great demos ... Mike from Krafty Hands was altering a coffee jar and it looked amazing, so I decided to have a go with the black gesso but put my own twist on it.

Unfortunately I was so in the zone that I didn't take pictures whilst making, but I'll talk you through it.

I used an old doue Egbert coffee jar.
Coated with ModPodge
Wrapped with a piece of embossed card and cut a circle out for the lid.
Then I stuck a mix of embellishments on with a glue gun ... It looks a state at this point as all the embelies are diff colours but don't panic ....
Paint the whole thing with black gesso you will need a couple of coats to get in all the books and crannies.
I then dry brushed very very lightly with white acrylic paint.
Once dry I did a wash of quinacrine gold then lightly brushed my embelies with the same and a touch of yellow.
Once dry I dry brushed with inka gold.
Then sealed the jar with glue n seal.

I totally enjoyed myself .... And you should have seen the state of my paws... Very mucky indeed ha ha

Bathroom makes ...

Hi peeps

I'm just sharing these frames which I've finally finished ... Talk about a labour of love .... Took a while but I love them.
I used a mixture of mediums and paints but mainly Deco Art and Liquitex
All made from reclaimed wood and drift wood and the sails are from a hessian bag. The nets are just scraps I had leftover from another project that I stippled with Deco Art acrylic paints.

I made the anchor one ages ago but just thought I'd share it too.
I rusted the anchor using a technique by Andy Skinner

Really had fun with these and they look pretty good in my bathroom too
