In ruins ........ Literally

Hi Peeps

Here's one of Steve's Christmas presents, its taken over a week to do !!

Lots of drying overnights and hard work as its so big but it was worth it.

I've used lots of techniques, mainly following
tutorial but with a bit of tweaking thrown in

I can't tell you the main technique for the 'skin' as its not fair to Andy
but if you haven't done one of his tuts online you are seriously missing
out on some brilliant techniques and useful arty hints and tips.

I've taken an A4 2015 diary and created this
Its a really big surface to do in one hit but I really enjoyed it!

I've used
Deco Arts Media acrylics
Pebeo Studio acrylics
White, Black and Prussian Blue acrylic paints
Embossed card
Grunge paper
Tim Holtz Embossing folders and dies
Multi Matt Medium
Liquitex Modeling paste
Sand
Cogs Stencil
Bits from my stash
Front

Back

Close up of back

It was a real labour of love and I hope he likes it after all the work lol

Having a mucky day :)

Hi peeps
I enrolled in one of Andy Skinners online workshops at the weekend so I've had a little go whilst following along..... Very mucky fun indeed ....

So here's my first run of some of the techniques for the Book of Ruination

I've ordered some A4 note books to do a proper job but I don't think it's bad for my first attempts .... I seem to have got the hang of it better on the back cover lol

Having a me day ....

Hi Peeps
Today I've totally had a me day ....
And managed to do two projects I've wanted to do for ages ....
Ones still drying so I'll share it later in the week.

I've fancied doing this treasure box for ages .... I just love making boxes...
It must be the engineer in me lol.

I'm gonna put Yankee candle pattys in them as a Christmas gift for a friend.

After a lot of searching .... found some decent instruction HERE

I've used Kraft card and Tim Holtz 12x12 card stock and his grungy bow die
and a bit of distress ink and distress stickles
It takes a while but is very sturdy and I can see me making a few more for putting presents in !

Just a quick one ...

Hi peeps
Just sharing what me and mother got upto on Tuesday ....
Decorating her plain n boring (her words) fire guard ....

Stuff I used
Beer cans
Viva decor precious metal paints gold and pink
Tim Holtz tattered florals and garden greens dies
Few brads

I used a natural sponge to stipple the gold paint all over it.

Using two Tim Holtz dies I cut flowers and leafy branches out of beer cans and painted again with the viva decor gold and pink paints

All glued on with pinflare glue gel .... She was really pleased with the results ... And it does look pretty if I say so myself lol

Crafty Play Day Makes......

Hi Peeps

Just sharing what me and Linda got up to yesterday

I went to an Andy Skinner workshop last month and
so I showed Linda a few techniques I'd picked up

We made "Torn Hearts",

pop over to Linda's Blog and check hers out ....

She really enjoyed herself and had very mucky paws hee hee

We mainly used Grey/White acrylic paints
Deco arts Fluid acrylics - transparent shades of gold, red and brown
Linda used some Pebeo iridescents also
Strips of torn and embossed card stock and some modelling pastes

Whilst Linda played with some other bits I made this ...... not sure what to call it ha ha
I wanted it to look as if the staples had burst to reveal the innards... so to speak

I think I need to stop watching Vampire shows ha ha ha

I really love getting grungy and I don't often get the chance to play with stuff I love so maybe this piece gives you an insight into what I really love to do ?

Maybe its my Grunginess bursting out ha ha ha
Andy  has really helped me remove my training wheels ha ha

Mid Month Inspiration - Anything Goes

Hi Peeps

Here's my Inspiration for this months challenge over at Imagination Crafts Challenge
I've made a grungy photo book
as I figured the MDF could be cut in my Bind It All
but you could just punch it and use rings or ribbon too

I've used some techniques I picked up on an Andy Skinner workshop.......
Its been great to be able to apply them using some of my Fave IC products

I will at some point do a demo to show you what I did,
but for now here's what I used in order of use.
IC MDF Frame pack
Punched with Bind it all (bound last)
Embossed Card (using a few IC stencils)
Time and Motion Stencil with texture paste
IC Jet and Chalk MDF Paints
IC Inkadinks (mixed colours)
Bronze Stencil paint (light rub to highlight raised areas)
Old book page stained with Inkadinks
Zutter wire to bind

I hope this inspires you to get muckypaws hee hee

Creative Blogger Hop

Morning Peeps....
I was asked by my great friend Pauline Orr
if I'd like to join the Creative Bloggers Hop..
Its a continuous hop every Monday with a host of
inspirational bloggers taking part each week..

So here goes, here's my answers to the questions...

Question 1.
What am I working on?....  Well I'm currently working on some new stamp and stencil designs for Imagination Crafts and crafty wise I'm playing with cold porcelain flowers in between crocheting a blanket and waiting for paint to dry on a altered grungy plaque I'm working on.

Question 2.
How does my work differ from others in my genre?...
I'm not sure I have a genre ha ha  ..... I tend to slot into the vintage grunge area but I tend to put a twist on projects that don't.... so I may take a pretty paper or cute stamp and vintage it or grunge it, and make it my own.

Question 3.
Why do I create what I do?.....
Ohhh hard question ...... I don't have a set process and I've constantly got a few projects on the go.... I suppose I make things I like .... I like a challenge so I'm always hunting for a diff technique to incorporate into a project .... not sure that answers it but it's the best I can do ha ha

Question 4.
How does your creative process work?
Ohhh now this depends on what it is ....... if it's a DT piece then I get the products out I need to use and go from there.........If it's something for 'me' I start with maybe a canvas and get lots of bits out I'd like to use ... then pick colour scheme ... then I'm off it just all kinda comes together.... or it doesn't and I put it to one side till the mojo is back ha ha Its different each time I start some thing ... Like a stamp may inspire me or picture on pinterest or I've learned a new technique and want to apply it to a current project ??
It all depends on being in 'the zone'  and which 'zone' I'm in ha ha ... But generally I just like making a mess and having creative fun.... I always have 'Mucky Paws' .

Here's a couple of my recent ish fave projects

Now for my 2 nominees...
It was hard to pick from all my blogging friends
but I've pick these two lovely ladies as their styles are very different.....
but I get Inspiration from them both

Frederique shares my passion for all things Tim Holtz, she is a creative, lovely and funny lady. I just love her vintage style, and I draw inspiration from her work.

Jan is amazing, I am totally in awe of her CAS and WOW cards, If  I'm ever stuck for an idea I pop to her blog .... she has inspired me to make some lovely wedding cards ....
and keep them clean hee hee

Just answer the questions above ladies and post them on your blogs next Monday...
don't forget to nominate x

Thank you for your visit and taking time to read about me...Please pop to the girls blogs and say hello

Crafty Play Day Makes

Hi Peeps

Well for our play day this week we set each other a challenge lol ....
Linda was to do a grungy card and I had to do a cutie one. Then we both had to do each others using the same stuff (I went pinks she went purples)

I gave Linda some Tim Holtz goodies -  stamps, die cut, distress powders and inks, kraft card, a tag, bit of string and a clip ! (she brought her own frantage)

She gave me a tatty twinkles stamp set and some pretty papers, and here's what we came up with

My tatty twinkles

Linda's

My grungy card

Linda's grungy card

Linda had both hers done before Id even finished my Cute one .... Speedy Gonzalez or what ha ha

We had a giggle and she had very mucky paws hee hee ..... I'm happy with my cutie one, still not my cup of tea but hey each to their own .... I think we both did well ha ha

Left of Centre GDT

Hi Peeps

The lovely Mo over on the Left of Centre Challenge Blog invited me to do a guest DT post for this weeks challenge which is themed "Black and White - with one other colour"
As you can see I've chosen pink ha ha

Now I'm not a "dark" craft type but as you all know I enjoy grunge and distressing so my card reflects that and with the help of a Stampotique stamp I think I've pulled it off ! hee hee

Please pop over and check out the fabby makes from the girls and of course join in the challenge
